Cyber Defencely has appointed Thomas Skarpsvärd Andersson as its new CEO. Andersson has a background as a corporate lawyer in private SaaS companies and as a CISO in the public sector, bringing extensive experience in building successful technology companies.
Growing Demand Driven by Cyber Threats and New Regulations
The increase in cyber threats and the introduction of the new Cybersecurity Act have created strong demand for Cyber Defencely’s expertise and its free assessment service, Cyberresilient.se. Thomas takes on the role with a clear mission: to strengthen Cyber Defencely’s ability to meet this growing demand.
"Thomas has exactly the combination of legal expertise, technical understanding, and business acumen that Cyber Defencely needs in its next phase. I am convinced he is the right person to take the company forward commercially," says Emanuel Lipschütz, Chairman of the Board at Cyber Defencely.
A New CEO with Experience in Both Law and Cybersecurity
Thomas Skarpsvärd Andersson is a lawyer with a background as Online Corporate Communications Manager at Electrolux, Head of Legal at the SaaS company Netigate, and most recently CISO at the Municipality of Huddinge. In previous roles, he has implemented ISO-based information security management systems and developed management frameworks for information security and data protection.
"The opportunities are enormous. A cybersecurity review conducted in March showed that 90 percent of public authorities fail to comply with information security regulations, and the private sector often faces similar challenges. What makes Cyber Defencely unique is the combination of expertise and innovative technology that can revolutionize organizations’ ability to manage their own cyber hygiene," says Thomas Skarpsvärd Andersson, CEO of Cyber Defencely.
As Co-Founder and Head of Cybersecurity Advisory, Daniel Reinholdsson will continue to play a key role in the company, focusing on service delivery and representing Cyber Defencely’s expertise through advisory engagements and partnerships.
Cybersecurity Requires Strategic Leadership
In January, the new Cybersecurity Act came into force, introducing stricter requirements for public and private organizations as well as suppliers operating in 18 sectors. Cyber Defencely helps organizations rapidly strengthen their capabilities to meet both cyber threats and regulatory requirements through experienced expert teams, quality-assured processes, and modern AI-powered tools. Together with its sister company Internetworking, and with support from the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (formerly MSB), Cyber Defencely has developed the popular free service Cyberresilient, which provides organizations with a cybersecurity assessment and recommendations for meeting the requirements of the new legislation. The service and sample reports are available at CyberResilient.se.
